Dharma Drum Retreat Center is a Chan Buddhist practice center in the tradition of Chinese Chan teacher Sheng Yen. It is located in Pine Bush, NY about 90 minutes North of the George Washington Bridge.

The focus of the center is on meditation as the foundation of Chan practice, and they offer teachings, one-day retreats and workshops, and also longer more intensive retreats. You can read more about Master Sheng Yen's teachings or his biography

Blue Cliff Monastery is a Zen Buddhist practice center in the tradition of Vietnamese Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, located in Pine Bush, NY. It is a mindfulness practice center and also a monastic training center with an emphasis on mindfulness in everyday life and meditation as a core practice. They offer periodic Days of Mindfulness as well as shorter and longer meditation and practice retreats.

Dharmakaya Center for Wellbeing is a center for people seeking spaces, practices, and support for cultivating physical and mental-emotional wellbeing. Their programs are grounded in Buddhist traditions, particularly that of Vajrayana and Tibetan lineages. It is located in Cragsmoor, NY about 90 minutes North of the George Washington Bridge.

Zen Mountain Monastery is Zen Buddhist practice center founded by John Daido Loori, located in Mount Tremper, NY about 2 hours north of NYC. They are a member of the White Plum Asanga, founded by Japanese Zen teacher Hakuyu Taizan Maezumi, Roshi. They also have a smaller practice center located in Brooklyn, NY.

They offer a full range of in-person and online traditional Zen trainings including weekly services, beginner's workshops, and intensive retreats of varying lengths, as well as art practice retreats.
